Culture shock

I'm a bit confused: I have just about become accustomed to the fact that if you so wish, you can go to MacDeathburger or Kentucky Fried Rat for your fix of high fat high sugar high salt grub, and that I am sitting in Starbucks sending this, as it's the only wi-fi hotspot I can find, but I am still in a little bit of bemusement that we have spent the entire morning in two Christian bookshops. They were undeground, but only in the sense that my basement is underground. The first one had a bright blue sign in Cantonese and English proclaiming Christian Bookshop. So this is slightly puzzling. True, if you try to log on to the Maccie D hotspot you are told that due to article thingummy of legal code whatsit you can only do so if you enter your Chinese or Hong Kong ID card number, but here in starbucks I can spread sedition for less than a quid, with (unusual for this country) a drinkable coffee. Just to add to the surreality, we are off to Ikea today, having been yesterday, but needing to go back for stuff - some things really are universal.
